Legendary vocalist Heart lists Florida home for $2 million just 2 months after announcing cancer diagnosis

This north Florida home in Palatka has heart — and it just hit the market for $2 million.

The seller is Ann Wilson, lead singer and songwriter of the legendary rock band Heart.

The apartment listing comes two months after Wilson, 74, announced he had cancer. In a statement on Instagram at the time, she canceled the remainder of her 2024 tour and wrote, “This is just a break. I have a lot more to sing.”

In July, she explained in her post: “I recently had surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous. The operation was successful and I feel well, but my doctors now advise me to do a course of preventive chemotherapy and I have decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year off the stage in order to fully recover.”

But this week, Heart announced that the tour will go ahead – opening in Las Vegas in March and they will perform in New York next April.

The 12.5-acre “Old Florida” estate is located along St. Johns River, and comes with 510 feet of water and its own dock.

The property is located on West River Road near St. Augustine. Wilson bought the compound for $885,000 in 2019. At the time, she was looking for inspiration to write new songs, a Gimme Shelter friend said.

Wilson co-founded Heart with her sister Nancy Wilson. Together, they created hits like ‘Crazy on You’, ‘Magic Man’ and ‘Barracuda’ – and have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. Last year, the sisters received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. The year before, Ann Wilson’s tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center in 2012, where she made Robert Plant and Jimmy Page cry, went viral.

The property features a 4,084-square-foot main house with three bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms, multiple balconies, large porches and stunning river views.

There is also a 2,406-square-foot guest house, which boasts four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Built in the early 1900s, it has been renovated and includes modern amenities such as an elevator.

The main house features a master bedroom with a wood-burning fireplace, along with a kitchen with a second wood-burning fireplace – and a library with built-in floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Details include an attached home office nook off the library and a hardwood staircase.

There is also an infinity pool with water views, a spa and a poolside lanai. Details include two backup generators, an artisanal well, an irrigation system and two pumps. There is also a workshop of 1,159 square meters.

The idyllic grounds contain century-old oak and magnolia trees and there is plenty of room for expansion, notes the listing by Jennifer Martin Faulker and Kim Martin-Fisher of Douglas Elliman.
